Cartridge News & Rumours
If
you like to refill your cartridges, perhaps you'd like
to bear in mind which printer you're currently using
(or to next purchase) because Lexmark are apparently
trying to patent their own original cartridges to 'self-destruct'
when the ink level has depleted by sending a power surge
to the chip so it burns up. Some of our competitors
who like to refill cartridges for their clients may
not like this news, but to us it's great, because we
don't refill anyway, we supply original, compatible
or re-manufactured cartridges.

ink-n-paper
offers a Recycling Program
for used cartridges so they can be flushed out and refilled
by professional re-manufacturing plants. All chips are
tried and tested to ensure each cartridge is good for
re-use. ink-n-paper does not recommend the refilling
of cartridges at home by having to make a hole in the
top and insert ink using a syringe. It doesn't work
very well, and besides, it gets all over the place...
The
majority of cartridge refilling companies in the high
street are using a 'universal
ink' which, owing to its one consistency, may
clog because it's too thick, leak all over your desk
because it's too thin, or if you're lucky may work just
fine. Original cartridges contain ink of a certain consistency
so that it is perfectly distributed during each use,
but the use of universal ink being squirted back into
the cartridge may not actually work very well at all.
It's not the faulty cartridge you must think about,
but the cost of having to go back to where it was purchased.
Quality, on the other hand, can be achieved by many
of the compatible companies, and they're currently giving
the OEM's a run for their money.
In
other news, Epson have reportedly been successful in
starting to shut down manufacturing
plants of 'copy' cartridges based in China. This
means compatible cartridges are going to be harder to
source for Epson machines, but we feel this on-going
lawsuit may jeopardise the future sales of Epson printers
due to the fact that consumers won't be able to readily
purchase the cheaper compatible cartridges and would
not take lightly to having to purchase originals at
full price, thus purchasing competitor's machines instead.
Hewlett
Packard are very conscious of the recycling programs
being put into place by various companies and governments
globally, and thus have apparently been refilling
their old cartridges and re-selling
them as new. You may start to notice some of their packaging
states the items have been re-manufactured in China.
ink-n-paper welcomes such a move, although we feel manufacturing
shouldn't be kept strictly to that part of the world
purely based upon the local economy...
ink-n-paper
will always advise customers on the appropriate cartridge
to purchase because there are many that fit into the
same machine, have different stock numbers, but have
more ink inside.
